Brewers - can they catch up?

Well, now that the Cubs actually started losing a bit, the Crew has now lost the series against the Twins. However, they are within striking distance, and 6 weeks ago, it didn't look this hopeful. Who would have guessed the Central would be the toughest division in the NL? I think there's a chance that even if the Crew can't catch the Cubs (and I think they can) that the wildcard is certainly within reach.

I haven't heard much talk about Cameron. I think he's ok defensively (had a great catch against the Twins over the weekend) but he's certainly not getting on base enough to warrant all the free agent hype. I'd rather have Gwynn in there - he'd get on base more and be peskier on the bases. Granted, we'd lost power, but there is more than enough power on this team, what we need is base runners.

How long is Rickie Weeks going to be the starting second baseman? Too bad they didn't resign Cirillo - I'd much rather see his .300 average in the lineup than Weeks' .220. Problem is, I haven't heard anything about any good 2nd base prospects coming up.

Well, let's hope the Cubs get swept tonight by the Whitesox. Don Shankman would be happy with that too! Are you still out there Don?

quick update

Wow - lots of things have happened since the last post. We had tickets to go see Aunt Emmy last weekend, but unfortunately she passed away on Thursday. She was a really special woman who had seen a lot of bad things happen in the last year. We had become quite close over the years and I always looked forward to her phone conversations. We were going to suprise her as we showed up on Saturday, and we were stunned to hear the news. So, we decided to go out east and celebrate in her name. We spent a day in Providence, a day in Boston and a day in Newport. It was really great. Boston is a heck of a city and we snuck into Fenway park and got a great view of the stadium from behind home plate.

The previous week we found out that Paul is getting married this fall and is flying off to Trinidad for his next job. We're going to miss him. It's been wonderful having such a good friend so close to use in Rhinelander.

The Crew Pull It Out!

Wow - with bases loaded, Torres pitched out of it to pull out the save. Prince had a huge night with a crucial steal of third base and then a monstrous home run in the 8th.

Today was a good day with the par on 18, the Brewers win and we received two new cds in the mail. Cherish the Ladies 'Woman of the House' and the new Carrie Newcomer 'The Geography of Light'. I'm looking forward to listening to them!

Fun things to do in Rhinelander

This past weekend we discovered a mountain bike trail outside of Rhinelander. It's about 5 miles outside of town and is the toughest trail I have ever ridden. Talk about a workout! I hope to keep going a little further each time I go and hopefully get better at navigating the rough terrain.

After work tonight we all went to Sugar Camp to go disc golfing and I shot an even par! That's the best I have ever thrown. Two bogies and two birdies. It was a lot of fun.

The Crew are in a heck of a battle right now with the Diamondbacks. It is the 9th inning and the Brewers are in a jam. Let's see if Torres can get them out of it!
