The North Pulls Ahead

Meg and I went out tonight in Fayetteville as Mom and Dad took care of Henry. It was really nice and there weren't many people on Dixon Street, as they all seemed to have just left to go see Arkansas play a basketball game. First we walked around the square and then up to the campus. We stopped in Fayetteville's version of Shank Hall, but luckily there was no live music. We had some Boulevard Wheat beer and it was quite good. Then we went to a Thai restaurant and had some wonderful vegetarian sushi. Then, we went across the street to a really cool jazz type bar/restaurant called Club 36. I tried a gin and tonic, but I didn't like it, so I swapped drinks with Meg's Gimlet. While there we had some really good gumbo. If you are ever in Fayetteville, I highly recommend that club - the service was excellent, the ambiance very nice and the food was great.

When we came home, I challenged Mom to a game of Scrabble. It was really close, but I was able to pull it out at the end. Final score Marc 288 - Mom 258.

Now the series stands:
Marc 3-2
Mom 2-3
Meg 0-1

Scabble Championship day 2

Well, last night was a tough one in the regional scrabble championship. The first game had three players, as Meg joined us. Mom won that game quite easily, and she pulled off a great come from behind victory in the second game, as I was stuck holding the Q at the end, and she ended up winning by two. Here are the totals:

Game 1
Mom 184
Meg 157
Marc 178

Game 2
Mom 272
Marc 270

The series now stands at:
Mom 2-2
Marc 2-2
Meg 0-1

North vs South Scrabble Tournament

Ok, so I'm at my parents house and the first two volleys in the national scrabble championship have been volleyed. I will admit I was QUITE lucky with the letters I got.

Game One:
Me (representing the North) 317
Mom (Representing the South) 259.

Game Two:
Me 318
Mom 290

Verdict - after being here two nights (both games were played tonight) the total is Marc 2, Mom 0.

I'll post again tomorrow...

Cold in the North Woods

Apparently up here north woods is one word, but I keep spelling it with two. It was really cold here today and we received about 6-8 inches of snow last night. I snow blowed this morning and froze my tail off, but I secretly enjoy snow blowing, so it wasn't that bad.

Meg is making apple crisp tonight, so I'm looking forward to that!
