Joannie?

I've been thinking lately about Jon and Tony - friends of mine (and Tom's) back in the late 1980's. I lost touch with them a long time ago and I hope they are doing well. Jonathan Applewhite and Tony Hampton were two really good guys and I hope to find them again some day. Sorry we lost touch guys!

Off The Wall

I forgot to mention in my last post that Tom caught a foul ball off the wall in our game on Friday. For those of you who don't know how rare that is, in my 25 or so years of playing strikeout, I think I've only seen it once before - I THINK Ryan did it once... So, nice job Tom!

Great Weekend

Well it was nice to have a bit of a vacation. Took a half day off on Thursday so we had a 3.5 day weekend! We packed a lot in during that time. I lost to Tom in Strikeout 8-5 on July 4th and threw a 2 over par on 18 holes at Sugar Camp.

We took a bike ride out to the construction on HWY G today and saw the work they are doing. I was hoping it was only going to be closed for a few days, but it is starting to look like it will be closed all summer. That's a bummer because it puts an extra 5-10 minutes on my drive to work.

Girls and Baseball

It's always seemed weird to me that girls don't always play baseball with boys. I see no reason why in high school girls play softball and boys play baseball. I am SURE that there are many girls who are as good as the boys who play HS baseball - Becky Fitch comes to mind - that I was happy to see that it isn't just Glendale where girls are encouraged to play in Little League. On our recent trip out east, we saw two different little league games in which girls were playing right with the boys. This photo showed a team with a girl pitching (she was getting rocked by the way). This was right near downtown Boston in a wonderful neighborhood. Suddenly a ballfield appeared amidst lots of huge cool buildings.

Boston Public Library

We figured we should probably visit the Boston Public Library while we were there. Here is a photo of me sitting on the front steps, and a photo of Meg with the Goddess of Wisdom (I think)

Providence - Boston and Newport

We miss Aunt Emmie so much that it has been too hard to talk about. We wanted her to meet Henry but it just wasn't meant to be. Henry will be sure to hear wonderful stories about the kind, caring and wonderful woman she was.

In her honor, Meg and I went to Providence, Boston and Newport and had a very special time. Here are some photos from that trip.

Sable in the evening

For the last few months, Sable has been getting really crabby at night. Usually between 7 and 9 all she does is whine. We take her for more walks and also give her chewies, but nothing seems to make her happy. She used to snuggle at night, but lately she just stands about 10 feet away and whines. It is sad to see her so upset.
