Snow Removal

I know this sounds a bit crazy, but I really like to snowblow. I went out this morning and even though it was really cold, I had a good time - I was out there for over 2 hours. I took care of several neighbor's driveways and did the whole block's sidewalk. Sometimes I wonder if I am actually bothering the neighbors when I do their driveway - however, I figure that since I'm out there already and I kind of like it, that hopefully they are just happy they don't have to do it themselves. Perhaps once it warms up and I talk with them again out in the yard, I'll ask them!

The Prisoner

One of our favorite shows to watch is the Prisoner from the 1960's. Sadly, the lead character passed away this past week. In honor of him, I think we'll go and check out the series from the library and watch a few episodes this week.

Tournament Finale

Well it was a heck of a competitive evening of Scrabble and the visiting Northern team takes home the trophy. The first game of the night was one of the craziest games ever played. I was down 95-0 only to take the lead in the second to last play and then my Mom played KOH and I didn't challenge her and she ended up winning on that move! I should have challenged! The reason I was down 95-0 was that I tried to play a scrabble with the word fuminate, but Mom challenged me and I lost. Then, she played spiller and I challenged her (which was a scrabble) so I lost my first two rounds, meanwhile she received an extra 50 for her use of all 7 letters. That being said, all things equal out and I got a bit luckier in the other games and was able to pull them out.

Here are the scores:
Game 1:
Mom 300
Marc 291

Game 2:
Mom 262
Marc 290

Game 3:
Meg 181
Mom 177
Marc 207

For a final tally of...
Marc 6 wins, 4 losses
Mom 4 wins 6 losses
Meg 0 wins 3 losses

It has been really great being down here and having a great time during the day and then having our competitive challenges at night. Plus, tonight we made rootbeer floats!

By the way, the word of the tournament was QAT...

New Years Eve in Arkansas

We had a nice New Years Eve last night in Rogers. After working on Dad's computer for a large part of the day Meg and I made a nice dinner of grilled tuna steaks and drilled aparagus. After dinner we resumed our Scrabble tournament. Mom was killing me in the first game and I came back right at the end and when Mom was stuck with the Q, I was able to pull ahead right at the end.

Here are the results of the two games:
Game 1
Mom 257
Marc 291

Game 2
Mom 228
Marc 187
Meg 161

Marc 4-3
Mom 3-4
Meg 0-2

Also, Henry has started saying the word 'help' which is a nice development. He started saying it when we were playing with Matchbox cars, which has been fun - it gives me an excuse to play with the cars I spent a lot of time playing with when I was a kid. I am glad we saved many of them!
